Stockholm, September 2011

Another one, shot with a 50mm...

Stockholm, September 2011

For once, I was just hanging, immessurably cool, on a streetcorner in central Stockholm, and for once, I had only my 50mm on, as opposed to my regular 70-300 that I usally use for this. Still, I got it. This, and the next.

Stockholm, july 2011

No, it's not Havanna or central Equador, it's Stockholm. Hard to tell, actually...

Stockholm, july 2011

I often marvel at how complete strangers don't mind you shooting them in the face like this. The only people I've ever met who complained, were police officers, soldiers and one man who was probably an illegal immigrant in France.

When you bring a big camera, you become invisible. Everyone likes to think they are too cool to notice...

Stockholm, july 2011

I like how someone can stand out from the urban chaos...

Uhm, if you people at Photoshop Disasters find this, please rest assured, this is not for you. This is not a crappy hair cutout. this is the real thing.

Spikes, tattoos and leather pants.

Stockholm, june 2011

The glamourous look. Awesome!

Caught in the crowd, looking over her shoulder for her boyfriend.

Stockholm, june 2011

Midsummer is the most swedish of hollidays, but here, in the outer suburbs of Stockholm, the fair had attracted a lot of the countries newcomers, and it made me really happy. I even saw a little girl of clearly foreign origins wearing a swedish national dress. The official. You're all very welcome.

This face looked like a thinking one. I like thinkers.

Stockholm, june 2011

He was selling old school softdrinks at the midsummer fair outside Stockholm. I really liked how he'd dressed for the occasion.

I like the way her hair catches the light...

Marietorget, Stockholm - june 2011

I'm slightly behind as there's been a lot in my life lately, such as moving and things. I'm trying to catch up, because I like to look at the pictures I take, and really see how they turned out.

Stockholm, may 2011

Last weekend, I had time to get a few shots, and they are what you're getting now.
Here's another. This image wouldn't suffer from a bit more sharpness. I wonder to what extent I could walk up to people and request a portrait, thus getting to use a lens more suited for portraits, like my 50mm...
Anyone with experience of trying to get a picture of a stranger? And, furthermore, I really don't want them to be concious about me.

Stockholm, may 2011

I wonder if ever the day will come, when people not only find themselves here, but consider it an honour, calling their friends to say "Look who's a FOTS!".

Stockholm, may 2011

Summer is on it's way to Stockholm, and with it comes all the people whose faces I'm after.

Stockholm, april 2011

When shooting a baptising, I caught this face from the crowd.

Nope. The colours are alright. No cheating.
And she was riding a bike...

Trocadero, Paris - november 2009

I have to bring in a few old favorites as well, in order to get this show on the road. From time to time, I will post old pictures as well, as the flow of portraits from the streets may be less than steady.

The first entry

A while ago a friend gave me a tip about the Sartorialist and how he made himself a name shooting fashion images of people in the streets. She insisted I be inspired by it, and make myself a name doing something similar. Faces is what I like. Faces is my speciality. So...

Let's see. Here goes. Portraits of People. The faces of the streets.
